The Swedish Community School in Addis Ababa is a school with a Swedish profile. The Swedish School was founded in 1946 and the School has more than 70 years of experience, delivering Swedish education in the English language in a foreign environment.

Today the school offers Preschool, Primary and Lower Secondary and has around 150 children ranging from 3 to 14 years old. The Swedish Community School provides education in English in accordance with the Swedish Curriculum, LGR 11, for compulsory school.

Job Position 1-General Manager

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Business Administration, Management, Nonprofit Leadership, Development Studies, Education Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the nonprofit or civil society sector, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
Proven experience in project planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, and donor reporting.
Strong understanding of Ethiopian legal and regulatory frameworks for NGOs/CSOs, including CSO Proclamation 1113/2019.
Demonstrated success in securing donor funding and managing multi-stakeholder projects with international development partners.
Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills with a results-oriented mindset.
Ability to effectively manage teams, resolves conflict, and creates a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant project management software.
Fluent in both written and spoken English and Amharic; additional languages are a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Serve as the chief executive of the organization, providing strategic and operational leadership aligned with the mission and goals of FSCSPCO.
Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and programs in accordance with approved agreements and timelines.
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian laws, including labor, tax, and NGO regulations, and maintain accurate and transparent records for audits and reporting.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture, promoting staff development, mentorship, and performance management.
Identify potential partnership opportunities with local and international NGOs, development partners, and government institutions to advance the organization’s goals.
Develop and lead internal systems for quality assurance, data collection, impact assessment, and reporting for all programs.
Represent the organization at public events, meetings, and in the media to build visibility and advocate for the rights of children and the value of inclusive education.
Ensure the sustainability of the organization through diversified resource mobilization strategies, including grants, donations, and income-generating initiatives.
Coordinate the development of strategic documents, such as the organization’s 5-year strategy, annual operational plans, and capacity-building frameworks.
Facilitate regular communication between the school (Kelem International School), project staff, and FSCSPCO to ensure alignment in goals and day-to-day implementation.
Promote effective internal controls, risk management practices, and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
Ensure safeguarding principles and child protection policies are upheld in all organizational activities.
