Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022) and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen.

Job Position 1 – Junior Medical Laboratory Technologists/Technician

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology or in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited Institution/university and also has an active certificate/License to practice in Ethiopia.
Experience:  Fresh graduate for degree or two years for diploma.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive range of clinical laboratory examinations, including hematology, parasitology, urinalysis, and clinical microscopy. This encompasses specimen collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Adheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of laboratory results through meticulous quality assurance and control processes.
Maintain peak performance of laboratory equipment by performing inspections, preventive maintenance, calibrations, and proficiency testing.
Specimens are checked as to their condition, acceptability and appropriateness to the test and exceptions are noted.
Manage all aspects of reagents, including initiating the need for procurement, inventory control, proper storage, and accuracy verification.
Implement and manage a laboratory information management system (LIMS) – paper-based or electronic – to efficiently track and document laboratory procedures and results.
Correlates clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to supervisors and other appropriate personnel.
Writes and updates laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory tests, ensuring consistency and compliance with regulatory standards under supervision as required.
All critical values are reported promptly to the physician and charge nurse.
Does not report patient results unless quality control data are within accepted parameters
Shares call duty and works different shifts as required. Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.
Keeps an adequate supply of working materials on hand.

Job Position 2 – Junior Environmental Health Professional

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Degree (BSC) in Environmental Health Science from an accredited Institution and has active License to practice in Ethiopia.
Experience: Two years of practical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to all stages of project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation related to water, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and outbreak prevention.
Conduct capacity-building training sessions for healthcare workers, community health workers, and rapid response teams,
Engage actively in risk communication and community involvement initiatives for various outbreak prevention and response.
Coordinate and facilitate interactive hygiene promotion activities to drive social and behavioral change communication.
Organize and facilitate hygiene and sanitation campaigns with partners and refugee structures.
Develop feasible activity plans, procurement strategies, and spending plans for cholera outbreak response activities within the grant period.
Participate in and conduct various health and WASH-related needs assessments, and develop action plans for effective hygiene and sanitation promotion activities.
Contribute to the design and production of appropriate hygiene Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
Maintain health/WASH data, records, and lessons learned, and share them accordingly.
Foster productive partnerships with stakeholders, including community leaders, health facility staff, and beneficiaries, actively seeking feedback.
Participate in local coordination mechanisms, such as Health/WASH working groups, as needed.
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for technical and line managers.

Experience: Two years of practical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conducting patient triage, promptly addressing needs, or relaying detailed messages to the appropriate physician.
Assessing a patient’s condition, setting IVs, updating patient records, providing emotional support, and/or educating patients on how to manage their illness or injury
Participating in outpatient and inpatient clinics regularly,
Assists in planning nursing care (bed making, patient positioning, feeding, bed bath, mouth care, etc.);
Participate in daily rounds, recording and reporting and progress on nursing note;
Develops nursing care plans that meet the individualized patient needs;
Prepares and administers medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians;
Accurately observes, reports and records any complication;
Be aware of the five right (right medication, right patient, right route, right dose, right time);
Communicates accurately in oral or written reports/information to each work-related staffs;
Responsible for safety and welfare of clients through proper implementation of nursing procedures;
Follows Universal Precautions and Infection Control guidelines;
Maintains attendance and observes working hours, starting time, lunch period, breaks, sign-out time, etc.;
Managing diagnostic results retrieval, ensuring physician review, and communicating results to patients following clinic guidelines.
Collaborating with physicians in clinic settings, providing support as needed.
Offering clear and comprehensive instructions on maintaining good health during patient interactions.
Participating in medical rounds with physicians or other medical staff members upon request.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
