The Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan, and membership-based civil society organization legally registered with the Authority for Civil Society Organizations in Ethiopia (ACSO) (Reg. No. 1146). Since its founding in 1991 by 32 professionals, EHRCO has been committed to promoting and protecting human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Ethiopia. Our work focuses on monitoring, documenting, and reporting human rights violations, with particular emphasis on prisons, trials, legal aid, elections, and other targeted human rights initiatives.

Job Position 1-Project Officer
Required Qualification and Experience
Education: First degree (or equivalent) in political or social sciences, Law, international relations, development studies, public administration or related field;
Experience :Minimum 5 years of proven experience in NGO/CSO project planning and implementation, policy development and analysis, managing teams or project component;
Knowledge of civil society context and human rights situation in Ethiopia;
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with partners and stakeholders at various levels.
Knowledge of effective participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems
Fluency in Amharic & English is required (both spoken and written)

Key Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director/ project management head, the Program Officer will be responsible for the following tasks
Oversee the day-to-day management of project activities in accordance with work plans, budgets, and donor agreements.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, timelines, and resource requirements.
Ensure timely preparation, update and implementation of annual and detailed implementation work plans, and other related documents for timely commencement and implementation of the project activities;
Monitor project progress, provide input for quality assurance, and ensure outputs are aligned with objectives.
Prepare periodic reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) and support evaluations such as midterm and final reviews.
Collaborate with team members and consultants in planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities and expenditures.
Facilitate data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with project M&E frameworks.
Ensure full compliance with donor policies, project management guidelines, and reporting requirements.
Assist in preparing investigative reports and special assignments as needed.
Monitor implementation quality, document lessons learned, and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
Introduce, develop and implement personnel system management strategies, policies, and procedures;
Provide competent and committed employees for the council in collaborating with work units;
Develop, get approval and implement salary scale and incentive schemes;
Plan, coordinate, evaluate and report the training need assessment, identified by functional areas, in collaboration with relevant services and departments,
Organize the development and implementation of the council organizational culture.
Maintain, implement and review annual staff appraisal system;
Coordinate employee relations policies and procedures,
Ensure that personnel files and records are properly handled and kept;
Handles employee compensation administration.
Responsible for administering, and ensuring the efficient provision of support services including transport, communication, utilities, housekeeping maintenance, health and safety and social services.
Responsible for the management of common facilities and properties
Planning, scheduling, and promoting office events, including meetings, conferences, interviews, orientations, and training sessions
Ensure the recruitment, promotion, transfer, training, performance appraisal, termination, pension administration, disciplinary and other activities of human resource/ personnel should do. The execution is in accordance with regulations and directives of EHRCO and Labor Law of the Land;
Also should do assignments given with his supervisor for the betterment of EHRCO.
