Job Position 1-Data Manager


Required Qualification and Experience
Education: MSc/MPH in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Demography, or a related field.
Experience :Minimum of 4 years of experience in public health research and data management.
Strong knowledge of research methodologies and statistical analysis.
Familiarity with local and international research ethics.
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, EPIinfo, SPSS, R, and STATA.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Availability to travel to regional locations as needed.

Work Environment
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, School of Public Health, Seferselam Campus.
Employment Type: Full-time, contractual (6 months with possible extension).
Frequent field travel required.

Scope of Work
The Data Manager will report to the BIRD lab Manager, and will manage and oversee the data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting processes to ensure accurate and high-quality data for project activities. The Data Manager will be responsible for the following:

1.Research Support
Plan and monitor project activities related to data management and use.
Review questionnaires and interview guides, and finalize survey instruments.
Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and data standard protocols for data quality control and compliance.
Assist data collectors, supervisors, and regional coordinators in survey data collection.
Ensure proper documentation of data management processes.

  1. Data Management:
    Monitor and coordinate the data collection process to ensure data quality and accuracy.
    Consolidate data from all sources and prepare summary reports for monitoring.
    Develop and implement data validation procedures.
    Design, test, and implement information systems and mobile data collection tools such as ODK and KOBO.
    Ensure data security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    Coordinate surveillance data collection for the Behavioral Health Sciences Unit (BHSU) on a monthly basis.
  2. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    Conduct statistical and thematic analyses.
    Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
    Develop and implement data visualization tools and dashboards.
    Support the technical team in report preparation.
    Document key findings, best practices, and recommendations.
  3. Coordination and Collaboration:
    Improve internal data management processes to ensure quality control.
    Establish a database and reporting system for project activities.
    Provide training on data management and statistical software.
    Develop strategies and tools to strengthen data quality assurance and data use.
    Support team members in day-to-day data management tasks.

Job Position 2-BIRD Lab Manager

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field with a focus on health education and promotion.
Proven research experience in behavioral health.
Experience :Minimum of 8 years relevant experience within an NGO or CSO, preferably in the area of Social and Behavior change (SBC) field
Strong knowledge of research methodologies.
Proficiency in using qualitative data analysis MaxQDA and statistical software.
Demonstrated competence in organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in managing research projects and training staff on behavioral science methodologies.

Job Position 3-Research Assistant

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Public Health.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Previous research experience in public health or social sciences.
Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, STATA and qualitative data analysis software like NVivo
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, School of Public Health, Seferselam Campus.
Employment Type: Full-time, contractual (6 months with possible extension).
Field travel may be required.
